Bruce Lee is considered the greatest martial artist of all time. Many fighters from all over the world idolize his skills. Bruce’s father was a famous actor which allowed Bruce to be a star in TV ads at very young age. Although Bruce was a natural-born star he had an obsession with fighting and became involved with street gangs. This forced his parents to send him to America to live with his relatives. Here he began using his love of fighting for good and became heavily involved with martial arts. He travelled back and forth from America to Asia and rapidly learned many styles of martial arts.

As he grew up, he mixed both of his passions together and made martial arts movies that made him widely known in all over the world. His most famous movie was titled “Enter the Dragon” which grossed in over $200 million dollars and was also the set where he met his demise. Bruce Lee`s death is still somewhat of a mystery, but most believe he died from taking painkillers that made his brain swell up.

Bruce Lee was known in the fighting world as someone who always wanted to push the boundaries. He believed that it was possible to have no flaws. Bruce created his own fighting style called “Jeet Kune Do” which was based upon both martial arts and physical conditioning. He believed that too many athletes spend too much time on skill instead of conditioning. Bruce was said to have uncanny strength abilities that people deemed impossible such as lifting 75 dumbbell with his arms stretched out for 20 seconds when he weighed only 135 lbs.

His fighting style was all about adaptation. He used his body to adapt to the other fighter and made his movements seem effortless. one of his most famous quotes was be formless… shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle; it becomes the bottle. You put it into a teapot; it becomes the teapot. Water can flow, or it can crash. Be water, my friend…

Learning Lessons

Create a solid base- The same way Bruce Lee believed in physical conditioning before gaining the skills to fight, a solid base is important before you work on the more detailed things.

Adapt to change- Bruce Lee fought in a way that no one could beat him. This was because he realized being a change agent is the only way he could continuously beat his competition no matter what skills they wielded.

Use your passion- Fighting was Bruce`s passion and he turned it into his legacy. Wealthy people always follow their passion, always.

Napoleon Bonaparte is the most powerful emperor in history. Born on August 15, 1769 on the island of Corsica in the Mediterranean. Napoleon was born to rule and decided on a military career at a very young age when he won a scholarship to attend a French Military Academy. Using power as his passion, Napoleon quickly rose above the rest of his comrades and completed his studies in a little over a year, which is half the time it took most people and soon became the emperor of France.

Napoleon used a technique that the author Robert Greene dubbed as “intense realism” when strategizing his war tactics. Intense realism is the ability to look at things for what they really are. This allowed Napoleon to see all the factors affecting war including the environment, players involved, the opposing leaders’ motives and any other variables that have effect on the war. Using this technique, Napoleon was able to be the all-seeing eye and found out his enemies weaknesses in a very rapid way. In order to find out this information, Napoleon was said to have many spies working for him. These spies allowed Napoleon to know more than his opponent, which in turn, led him to victory.

Knowledge was the key to Napoleons power. He had studied war strategies at a very early age and was always a step ahead of his enemies. He was even quoted saying ” I have fought sixty battles and I have learned nothing which I did not know at the beginning.”

Napoleon won sixty battles in his time including taking over of Italy and Egypt. He lived to be 50 years old before he was killed in the battle of Waterloo by a collective of soldiers who were set out to destroy the French empire.

Learning Lessons

Know your competition before playing an active role in the marketplace. Know as much as you possibly can about who penetrates the market so you can find their weaknesses and use it against them.

Become knowledgeable about the field your in and all aspects of it. Take true passion in getting educated about the kind of business you want to go into, the new merger about to take place or simply the next business meeting your having.

Stand your ground. The greatest people in history have stood up for what they believed in and they all have changed the world by doing so. So stand your ground.

The biggest commonality all successful people seem to have is that they were grateful for what they had before they got what they wanted. In other words, they appreciated the life they were given in order to attain the life they deserved. Being in a state of gratitude can come in many ways, but unfortunately, most people are only in this state when a tragedy occurs which they are not a part of. For example, how many times have you looked at that news and thought “thank god that isn’t me”. Successful people on the other hand appreciate everything, from the small to the large, expensive to inexpensive.

I recently came across a unique technique that enabled me to get into this state of gratitude. Over the past few months my white shoes have gotten pretty dirty and I was thinking of buying a new pair. Realizing I bought these shoes just a few months ago, I thought I’d clean them with a shoe whitener instead. While I was cleaning my shoes, I unknowingly thought to myself of how much I liked these shoes and how they fit my persona so well. After I finished cleaning them I was so proud of how good they looked (they looked practically brand new). I then realized caring for and cleaning the things you own will put you in a state of gratitude for that particular object. Not only do you feel grateful for it but you feel a sense of true ownership towards it and send out a signal to the universe for more of it. This got me excited and made me realize why it is important to take care of the things you own.
